Julie Rosier (Artistic Producer) founded Red Thread Theater in her hometown of Detroit in 2008. Before taking this critical step towards her vision of combining theater and social change, she had performed, directed, choreographed and written for several years in New York City. She directed her own autobiographical one act, Hand/Flash/Back (Bowery Poetry Club), Kymbali Craig’s one-woman hip-hop theater piece, Male Gaze (Bailey’s Café), and choreographed John Montgomery Theater Company’s ensemble-based play, We Call Her Benny (Frigid Festival, Michael Weller). Acting credits include Plains (LaMama E.T.C.) Piecework (Theater for the New City) and Uncommon Women (4th Meal Productions).
Julie has also produced or production managed such productions as Beyond the Machine: A Festival of Electro-Acoustic and Multimedia Art for the Music Technology Center at Juilliard, Experimenta! a festival at LaMama Experimental Theater Club, various staged readings for Young Playwrights Inc., as well as, community programming at The Brecht Forum in NYC and The Boggs Center to Nurture Community Leadership in Detroit.
